Softball to Face Warriors and Urban Knights on Six-Game Road Trip

Humboldt To Face Stanislaus State and Academy of Art this Week on the Road
ARCATA, Calif.--- Cal Poly Humboldt will begin a six-game road trip this weekend, March 11-13 with a four-game CCAA series in Turlock against Stanislaus State.  The series will commence this Friday, March 11th with an 1pm starting doubleheader.  The two teams will conclude the series with an 11am starting doubleheader on Saturday, March 12th.  The Jacks will conclude their six-game road trip with a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday, March 13th against Academy of Art at Mission Blue Field in Brisbane, Calif.
 
RECAP OF LAST WEEK:  Humboldt (7-13, 3-9 CCAA) went 0-4 against No. 16 Chico State in the Lumberjacks' first home games of the regular season.  The Jacks were swept on Friday 4-0 and 7-0 by the Wildcats.  Alyssa Ramirez had three in the doubleheader for Humboldt.  On Saturday, Humboldt lost 9-7 and 17-5 (6) to the Jacks. JoAna Mullins and Izzy Starr went a combined five-for-eight, driving in six runs and scoring twice.  Starr had a three-run home run and Katelyn Dendas hit a solo home run.  In the night cap, Vanessa Saltos hit two home runs, drove in four runs and scored twice.
 
UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS' OFFENSE:  Cal Poly Humboldt has a team batting average of .283 with four players hitting over .300 in JoAna Mullins (.387), Micaela Harris (.359), Izzy Starr (.333) and Katelyn Dendas (.322).  Starr leads the Jacks with her 23 runs batted in and is with Dendas with a team leading five doubles.  Harris leads the team with her 23 runs scored, five triples, .446 on-base percentage and 16 stolen bases. Mullins has a team leading 24 hits while Vanessa Saltos leads Humboldt with her seven home runs and .719 slugging percentage. 
 
LUMBERJACKS PITCHING STAFF IN REVIEW:  Humboldt's team earned run average (ERA) is 6.96 with Karen Di Dio leading the way with her 4.50 ER, four victories, 46.2 innings pitched and 32 strikeouts.  She is tied with Gaige each with eight starts.  Di Dio is tied with Garcia and Ava Hand each with ten appearances.
 
STANISLAUS IN REVIEW:  The Warriors are 5-12 overall and 3-9 in the CCAA after spl8itting their home doubleheader with SF State.  Stanislaus State won games one and three 7-6 and 3-2, but lost games two and four 2-1 and 6-4.  The Warriors have a team batting average of .263 with five players hitting over .300 in Sidney Crippen-Lay (.311), Madison Flexser (.333), Lauryn Serda (.340), Sarah Warden (.349) and Cherise Mori (.359). Warden has driven in a team leading nine runs and two triples while Flexser has a team high seven doubles.  Serda leads the team with her 18 hits and 11 runs scored while Flexser has a team leading .471 slugging and .414 on-base percentages.  Katie Thornsberry is a perfect seven-for-seven in stolen bases.  Over in the circle, Delaney Pamplin leads the way with her 53.1 innings pitched, 1.97 earned run average, three victories and 25 strikeouts. 
 
ACADEMY OF ART IN REVIEW:  The Urban Knights are 0-19 overall and 0-5 in the PacWest.  They are currently facing Azusa Pacific in a four-game series at home before hosting Humboldt this Sunday at noon.  Heading into their last three games with Azusa Pacific, the Urban Knights are hitting .174 as a team led by Haley Randall's .298 batting average.  They have a 9.41 earned run average led by Jolene Rhoades' 6.79 earned run average. 
 
AMONGST THE CCAA LEADERS:  The Jacks are leading the CCAA in home runs and slugging percentage. They are second in triples, tied for third in runs batted in, fourth in doubles, fifth in on-base percentage, sixth in stolen bases and sixth in runs scored.  Micaela Harris is leading the league in triples while she is second in runs scored, third in stolen bases, seventh in hits, tied for seventh in home runs, eighth in slugging percentage and tenth in on-base percentage.  Vanessa Saltos leads the CCAA in home runs and is third in slugging percentage and fourth in runs batted in.  Izzy Starr is second in runs batted in and home runs while she is ninth in slugging percentage and Katelyn Dendas is tied for seventh in home runs.
 
NATIONAL LEADERS:  Micaela Harris is seventh in the nation in triples and ninth in stolen bases.  Vanessa Saltos is 11th in home runs. 
 
45 FOR 46:   Micaela Harris is now 45-for-46 in stolen base attempts since 2020.  She went 18 for 18 in 2020, 11 for 11 in 2021 and is 15 for 16 this season.  For her career, Harris is 81 for 87 in stolen base attempts. The senior outfielder/catcher is fifth on the Lumberjacks' all-time list.  Andrea Williams (2001-04) is tied for fourth with Andrea Williams (2001-04) with her 87 stolen bases,
 
34-13:  Cal Poly Humboldt leads the all-time series with Stanislaus State 34-13.  The Warriors have won the last five games in a row with the Jacks. Humboldt split with the Warriors in 2018 and took three out of four from them in 2017.
 
13-6-1:  The Jacks lead the all-time series with Academy of Art 13-6-1.

BACK HOME:  Humboldt will return home March 18-19, when the Lumberjacks host Sonoma State in a four-game series. The series will begin with a 1pm starting doubleheader on March 18 and conclude the next day with an 11am starting doubleheader.
