ARCATA, Calif.--- Cal Poly Humboldt's softball team will be on the road for the final time this regular season with a four-game conference series at San Francisco State, April 22-23. The series will start with a 1pm doubleheader on Friday, April 22. The two teams will conclude the weekend series with an 11am doubleheader on Saturday, April 23.
RECAP OF LAST WEEKEND: The Jacks faced Cal State San Bernardino in a four-game series this past weekend with the Coyotes coming out on top 9-1, 9-5, 4-2 and 5-3. The Yotes won the first two games at Humboldt's Softball Field on Friday 9-1 and 9-5.
Katelyn Dendas drove in
JoAna Mullins with the Jacks' only run in game one. In the night cap Friday,
Izzy Starr went three-for-four with two runs batted in and two runs scored including hitting her sixth home run of the season.
Alyssa Ramirez and Mullins went a combined four-for-six with a run scored.
Ava Hand pitched two scoreless innings of relief while striking out two batters. The two teams moved their four-game series to the Bear River Casino Softball Complex in Loleta, Calif., on Saturday. Prior to the doubleheader on Saturday, the Jacks had the parents of
Evelyn Andrews throw out the first pitch. Andrews was a two-year letter-winner for the Jacks who passed away two years ago. In game one Saturday, Humboldt lost 4-2 as Mullins had two hits and a run batted in.
Hollee Travao also had two hits and a run scored. The Jacks lost the series finale 5-3 despite Travao's two-run home run and Harris' two hits and three stolen bases.
UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS' OFFENSE: Heading into this weekend, the Jacks are batting .277 with three players hitting over .300 in
Micaela Harris (.426),
Izzy Starr (.382) and
JoAna Mullins (.350). Harris leads the team with her 45 stolen bases, 49 runs scored, 63 hits, seven triples, .676 slugging percentage and .491 on-base percentage. Starr leads the team with her 13 doubles and 34 runs batted in while
Vanessa Saltos has hit a team leading nine home runs.
LUMBERJACKS PITCHING STAFF IN REVIEW: Humboldt's team earned run average is 6.11 with
Gaige Garcia leading the way with a 4.76 earned run average.
Karen Di Dio leads the team with her seven victories, six complete games and 57 strikeouts. Garcia is second on the team with four wins while
Vanessa Richie has two.
74 FOR 77: Micaela Harris is now 74-for-77 in stolen base attempts since 2020. She went 18 for 18 in 2020, 11 for 11 in 2021 and is 45 for 48 this season. For her career, Harris is 110 for 118 in stolen base attempts. The senior outfielder/catcher is third on the Lumberjacks' all-time career list. She is sixth on the top ten single season list at Humboldt. Harris is also eighth in career runs scored with 168.

CCAA/NCAA RANKINGS: As a team, the Lumberjacks are in the top ten in seven team categories. They are leading the CCAA in home runs and are second in stolen bases. Humboldt is also fourth in doubles and triples while they are fifth in slugging percentage and sixth in runs scored.
Micaela Harris leads the league in batting average, on-base percentage, hits and stolen bases. She is second in runs scored and triples while she is fourth in runs batted in and slugging percentage.
Izzy Starr is third in hits, tied for fourth in doubles and ninth in slugging percentage.
JoAna Mullins is ninth in hits and tied for ninth in runs batted in while
Vanessa Saltos is leading the league in home runs. In national stats, Harris leads the nation in stolen bases while she is 11
th in triples and 15
th in hits.
SFSU: After its four-game series with Cal State East Bay, the SF State Gators are 17-28 overall and 8-20 in the CCAA. They are hitting .286 as a team and have recorded a 3.77 team earned run average. Three players are hitting over .300 in Brylynn Vallejos (.411), Kai DeLeon (.354) and Lehua DeLeon (.341). Vallejos leads the team with here 51 runs scored, 60 hits, 13 doubles, four triples, eight home runs, .726 slugging percentage and .467 on-base percentage. Lehua DeLeon leads the team with her 27 runs batted in and 31 stolen bases. Taylor Kelly has a team low earned run average of 2.33 with Kaitlyn Maddux leading the team with her seven victories and 51 strikeouts.
SENIOR DAY: The Jacks will return home next week for the final time this regular season. Humboldt will host No. 6 Cal State San Marcos in a four-game series April 29-30. Friday's doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1pm with it being Dam Worth It Day out at Humboldt Softball Field. The Jacks will be spreading awareness about Mental Health.
