CONROE, Texas -- Cal Poly Humboldt dropped two games on Saturday at the 2023 DII Spring Invitational Kickoff, falling in game one to Saint Edward's University 5-1, and in game two to Angelo State University 9-1. Micaela Harris was the only player for Humboldt to record a hit in both games as the bats went cold for Humboldt. 

GAME ONE VS. SAINT EDWARD'S: St. Edward's struck first in the bottom of the second inning after two hits and a Lumberjack error put the Hilltoppers on the board, 1-0. In the top of the third, McKenna Beach doubled to center field and was brought home when Harris hit a triple in the left center gap, making it a 1-1 ball game. In the bottom of the fifth inning, three singles and two doubles gave St. Edwards four runs and a 5-1 lead over the 'Jacks. Humboldt couldn't get a rally going in the final two innings and fell to the Hilltoppers with a final score of 5-1.

Cal Poly Humboldt drop to 2-3 overall and St. Edward's improves to 3-1.

NOTABLE STATS
- Micaela Harris tripled and had an RBI
- McKenna Beach went 1-for-3 and had the only run for Humboldt
- Alyssa Ramirez collected two hits
- Humboldt had three errors 
- Leamon of St. Edward's picked up the win after throwing a complete game

GAME TWO VS. ANGELO STATE: Cal Poly Humboldt ran into some trouble in the bottom of the second inning against the Rams of Angelo State. The Rams recorded six hits, three of which were home runs, and put seven runs up on the scoreboard to take a commanding 7-0 lead early. Angelo State added to their lead in the bottom of the third inning after three hits plated two more Rams runners. The 'Jacks needed to get the bats hot but struggled as Angelo States' Genesis Armendariz pitched five innings and only allowed three hits. Although Humboldt got one run across in the top of the fifth on a Vanessa Saltos single, it was too late as the run rule came into effect. The Rams defeated the Lumberjacks 9-1 in five innings of play. 

Humboldt fell to 2-4 and Angelo State improved to 2-2.

- Harris scored the only run of the game and Saltos had the only RBI of the game
- Genesis Armendariz of Angelo State picked up the win after pitching a complete game.
