ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt (7-9, 3-5 CCAA) fell to San Francisco State (13-3, 7-1 CCAA) in straight sets (17-25, 17-25, 17-25) on Saturday afternoon at Lumberjack Arena. The Gators, who received votes in the national poll this week and sit in second place in the CCAA standings, displayed a commanding performance against the Lumberjacks in front of 268 fans on
Dig Pink Night.
The Gators led the match from start to finish, hitting .223 as a team and securing 40 kills, while Humboldt was held to a -.009 hitting percentage with 24 kills.
Graysen Trupp led the Jacks with nine kills, followed by
Awelina Fakalata with seven.
San Francisco State's offense was spearheaded by Izzy Issak, who posted a match-high 14 kills. Aidan Goodrich added 10 kills, while Tamiya Wilson contributed nine and 12 digs to anchor the Gators' defense.
Match Summary
San Francisco State's consistent pressure was evident from the opening set, as the Gators hit .171 to Humboldt's .000. The Jacks struggled to find their rhythm early, committing eight errors to match their eight kills in the first set.
In the second set, Humboldt improved slightly but was still unable to match the efficiency of San Francisco State, who hit .231. The Jacks posted a .024 hitting percentage and once again faced tough defensive pressure from the visitors, led by Kimberly DeBoer's 32 assists.
By the third set, the Gators closed out the match with their most efficient performance, hitting .281. Humboldt, unable to regain momentum, posted a negative hitting percentage of -.065 in the final frame.
Despite the loss, Humboldt saw strong individual efforts.
Kyra Slavik dished out 17 assists, while
Sophia Spoja led the Jacks with 15 digs, and Fakalata tallied 11 digs to go along with her seven kills.

San Francisco State's well-rounded performance, with five aces and 12 blocks, was key in securing the win. Humboldt will look to regroup as they continue their CCAA schedule, hoping to rebound in their next match. The 'Jacks currently sit in sixth place of the
CCAA standings with 10 matches left.
Looking Ahead
The Lumberjacks will take on Sonoma State (6-8, 3-5 CCAA) twice next week for a pair of CCAA matches. On Thursday, Humboldt will travel to Rohnert Park for a 5:00 PM match at
The Wolves' Den. Then on Saturday, the 'Jacks will turn around and host Sonoma in Lumberjack Arena with the first serve set for 3:00 PM. It will be Youth Night with a post-game autograph session.
