'Jacks Sink Gators on Friday with Tiscareno’s Long-Range Goal

ARCATA, Calif. – In a tightly contested CCAA matchup, the Cal Poly Humboldt men's soccer team secured a 1-0 victory over San Francisco State at College Creek Field on Friday afternoon. Enrique Tiscareno delivered a decisive moment of brilliance, firing a powerful shot from way beyond midfield in the 60th minute that bounced over the Gators' goalkeeper and into the net. This heads-up play marked Tiscareno's first goal of the season, sealing the win for the Lumberjacks.

The hard-fought match remained scoreless throughout the first half as both defenses held strong. Humboldt's offense found rhythm in the second half, and Tiscareno's stunning shot far beyond the halfway line caught the San Francisco State defense by surprise, electrifying the home crowd.

San Francisco State, despite an uptick in offensive efforts in the second half, was unable to break through Humboldt's resilient defense. Goalkeeper Adrian Gallardo anchored the Lumberjacks with three saves, maintaining his composure throughout the match.

As the game continued, tempers flared, leading to cautions for both teams. San Francisco State's Marco Valdez received a yellow card in the 70th minute, while Humboldt's Gallardo and Ryan Rutherford were cautioned late in the game.

With this victory, Cal Poly Humboldt improves to 3-7-4 overall and 2-4-2 in the CCAA, while San Francisco State falls to 1-7-5 overall and 1-3-3 in conference play. Humboldt's solid performance at home is a promising sign as they continue to build momentum in the season's final stretch.
