ARCATA, Calif. – In their final game of the regular season, the Cal Poly Humboldt men's soccer team battled Sonoma State in a hard-fought contest that remained scoreless until the last seven minutes. Despite a valiant defensive effort, the Lumberjacks fell 2-0 to the Seawolves at College Creek Field, as both teams closed their seasons outside of tournament contention.

The deadlock was broken in the 84th minute when Sonoma State's Alejandro Zarate found the net, capitalizing on a well-placed assist from Jvon Cunningham and Jose Rios Lara. Just five minutes later, Christian Alvarado added a second goal for Sonoma State, securing the victory as Humboldt sought to respond but ran out of time.

The Lumberjacks fired off 15 shots, with five on target, challenging the Seawolves' defense throughout the game. Sophomore forward Enrique Tiscareno led the offensive push, while goalkeeper Dylan O'Neill recorded six saves, anchoring a determined defensive effort. Humboldt's tenacity shone as they nearly matched Sonoma State's shot total, but the Seawolves' late game-winners proved decisive.

Both teams managed strong set-piece play, with Humboldt earning six corners to Sonoma State's seven. The game saw just six fouls per team, yet the intensity was clear as Tiscareno received a caution in the 75th minute, followed by Sonoma State's Lucas English three minutes later.

Cal Poly Humboldt finishes the season with a 3-11-4 record (2-8-2 CCAA), showcasing resilience in the extremely competitive CCAA conference. While neither team secured a postseason berth, Humboldt's competitive edge and commitment set the tone for growth in the seasons ahead.
