TURLOCK, Calif. -- Cal Poly Humboldt women's basketball aimed to get back on track Thursday at Stanislaus State as the end of the season nears and the stakes for a spot in CCAA Tournament heighten. The Lumberjacks struggled to find a rhythm offensively and the Warriors managed to win the turnover battle which resulted in a 71-47 win for Stan State.
Kenya Edelhart was a bright spot for the 'Jacks on Thursday, as she tied her season-high and scored a game-high 22 points on 80 percent shooting from the field (8-10 FG) and 60 percent shooting from beyond the arc (3-5 3PT).
The Warriors jumped out in front early on and scored the first six points of the game. Edelhart went on to score six of Humboldt's 10 first quarter points but saw themselves down 15-10 to Stan State after 10 minutes of play. The Warriors slowly extended their lead and Humboldt remained within single-digit striking distance at halftime, down just 31-22.
Stan State erupted in the second half and took advantage of the 19 Cal Poly Humboldt turnovers to close out the game with a final score of 71-47. The Warriors maintained the lead for the entirety of the game as there were no lead changes. Humboldt aims to bounce back with four games remaining and will look to make a push for a spot in the CCAA Tournament beginning on Saturday at Cal State Monterey Bay.
