Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Drew Gwerder

'Jacks Offense Comes up Short at San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- Cal Poly Humboldt kicked off a four game road trip with a visit to Coussoulis Arena in San Bernardino. The 'Jacks and Coyotes met back on December 2 that resulted in a low scoring 49-48 victory for Humboldt. Thursday's game was also low scoring, but this time around it was the 'Yotes that finished in front with a final score of 55-47. A tough night of shooting was led by Emilia Long, who posted 16 points.

San Bernardino went into the half up 36-26 over Humboldt and shot 50 percent in the second quarter to extend their lead going into the break. This ended up being the difference in the game, since both teams were cold from the floor for the duration of the second half. The 'Jacks outscored the 'Yotes 12-7 in the fourth quarter but it wasn't enough to ignite a comeback before time expired.

The 'Jacks defense held San Bernardino to 32 percent shooting from the floor and created 18 turnovers. However, the Lumberjack offense had 19 turnovers and shot just 30 percent for the game. The Coyotes struggled from the free-throw line, going 10-for-20 (50 percent), but this was another component that separated the score as Humboldt only got to the stripe seven times throughout the entire game.

Humboldt remains in the mix for the CCAA Tournament, as an 8-8 CCAA record now puts them in a five-way tie for fourth place.
