Box Score 2 LOLETA, Calif. -- Cal Poly Humboldt Softball hosted Sonoma State from the Bear River Casino Sports Complex in Loleta on Saturday. Despite scoring five runs in the last two innings, the surging comeback came up short, as the 'Jacks dropped game three of the series to the Seawolves with a score of 9-5.
Alyssa Ramirez and
Vanessa Saltos each had two hits in the game. Game two was halted in the bottom of the third inning and saw Sonoma State leading with a score of 2-0. The game will be finished at a later date that has yet to be determined. Humboldt currently holds a 16-16 record overall and 6-9 record in CCAA play.
Game One (SSU 9, HUM 5)
Gaige Garcia started in the circle for Humboldt and didn't allow a run through four innings. A slow start for both offenses saw Sonoma State strike first on a two-out triple to right center by Giana Hays that brought home three runs. The Seawolves extended their lead in the sixth inning after adding five more runs to make it an 8-0 game.
Humboldt got some momentum back in the bottom of the sixth as they scratched three runs across the scoreboard behind two hits and a Sonoma error. The Seawolves plated a run to make it 9-3 in the top of the seventh inning.
With their backs to the wall, the 'Jacks turned the tables and put Sonoma on their heels in the final at-bats. Humboldt scored two runs on three hits to make it a 9-5 game. A
Vanessa Saltos walk and
Shelby Shanks single up the middle earned them RBI's. With bases loaded and the tying run at the plate, the 'Jacks fell short with a 9-5 loss against the Seawolves.

Game Two (SSU 2, HUM 0 - Bottom 3 - Game Halted)
Game two of this doubleheader was halted in the bottom of the third inning with one out and a runner on first base for Cal Poly Humboldt. Sonoma scored a pair of runs and currently holds a 2-0 lead. This game will be continued at a later date and more information will follow about a new date and time.

Cal Poly Humboldt (16-16, 6-9 CCAA) will travel to Stanislaus State (12-18, 8-11 CCAA) this upcoming week for a CCAA series against the Warriors in Turlock. Game times are set for 1 PM and 3 PM on Friday and 11 AM and 1 PM on Saturday from Warrior Softball Field. All games can be streamed on the CCAA Network.
