GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Cal Poly Humboldt (4-4, 0-0 CCAA) secured a decisive 3-0 sweep over Adams State (2-7, 0-0 RMAC) on Saturday afternoon at Brownson Arena. The Lumberjacks claimed the match with set scores of 25-23, 25-23, and 25-20, improving to .500 on the season.
The first set saw a tightly contested battle, with the Lumberjacks narrowly edging Adams State 25-23. Humboldt registered 13 kills in the opening frame but committed 8 errors, finishing with a .135 hitting percentage. Adams State put up a similar fight, hitting .143 with 11 kills and 6 errors.
In the second set, Humboldt found its rhythm, hitting .317 behind 18 kills and just 5 errors. Adams State responded with a stronger attack as well, hitting .257, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Lumberjacks, who won the set by another 25-23 margin.
The third set was where Humboldt took full control, holding Adams State to just 12 kills and a .281 hitting percentage while racking up 13 kills themselves. The Lumberjacks finished the match with a .226 hitting percentage, narrowly beating Adams State's .225, closing out the sweep with a 25-20 victory.
