No. 2 Stanislaus State Tops Cal Poly Humboldt

ARCATA, Calif. – Facing one of the nation's top programs, Cal Poly Humboldt battled hard, but fell 3–0 to No. 2 Stanislaus State on Friday afternoon at College Creek Field.

The nationally ranked and undefeated Warriors (10-0-1, 4-0-1 CCAA) struck early in the 12th minute when Gerardo Flores netted his seventh goal of the season off an assist from Christian Brenes. Stanislaus State doubled its lead just before halftime as Sebastian Carbajal scored in the 41st minute, assisted by Alexis Cervantes and Hugo Canedo.

Despite the deficit, the Lumberjacks (2-8-1, 0-4-0 CCAA) continued to show grit on the defensive end. Goalkeeper Edwin Monterrosa recorded three saves on the day.

Stanislaus State added its final goal in the 81st minute when Kenneth Solares converted on a pass from Samuel Villanueva. Humboldt's offense generated four total shots, including two on goal from Izaiah Grosveld and Kaz Kinoshita, while the Warriors posted 15 shots with 10 on target.

The Lumberjacks will look to regroup as they continue their CCAA homestand, hosting Cal State San Bernardino at College Creek Field on Sunday for Senior Day. The 'Jacks will honor lone senior Paris Ruiz prior to kickoff at 2:00 PM.
