Men’s Soccer Returns Home for CCAA Opener Against San Marcos, Dominguez Hills

ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt men's soccer opens its CCAA slate this weekend with two home matches at College Creek Field. The Lumberjacks (3-4-1) host Cal State San Marcos on Friday, Oct. 3 at 12:30 p.m. PT and welcome Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 11:30 a.m. PT. The match against San Marcos will serve to be Staff and Faculty Appreciation Day while Sunday will be Youth Day, which includes postgame autographs.

LAST TIME OUT

Humboldt came alive in its most recent match, earning a dominant 4-1 victory over Lincoln University in Vallejo, Calif. Junior midfielder Seth Uson starred, netting a hat trick and providing an assist. He opened the scoring in the 11th minute, turned provider one minute later for Lucas Carballo's first goal of the season, and scored again in the 44th off an assist from Logen Coffin. Uson completed his hat trick in the 75th minute on a pass from John Warnell. Lincoln added a late goal in the 85th minute, but Humboldt's early surge proved decisive.

CONFRONTING THE COUGARS

Cal State San Marcos (1-3-3) enters the weekend aiming to find its footing in league play. This matchup marks the ninth meeting between the programs, with their last meeting ending in a 1-0 victory for the 'Jacks at home. The 'Jacks will need to remain sharp in their own half while maintaining composure in buildup play to counter the Cougars.

TESTING THE TOROS

Cal State Dominguez Hills (3-2-2) enters Sunday's game having accumulated three wins, but no goals in their last two games. With a seemingly stifled offense, Humboldt will need to sharpen its defensive cohesion and convert chances efficiently to break the game open. Historically, Humboldt has yet to come out on top against Dominguez Hills since 2022, but they look to capitalize offensively to turn the tables on the Toros.
