ARCATA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Humboldt men's soccer team is traveling to Los Positas Athletics Complex this Friday, Oct. 10 to face Cal State East Bay in Livermore, Calif. for more CCAA action. Kickoff of the match is set for 3 p.m. PT.
The Lumberjacks (3-6-1, 0-2-0 CCAA) will look to secure their first conference win of the season on the road as Friday's matchup separates a four-game stretch at home. Humboldt aims to gain ground in the conference standings and get back on track with a crucial victory.
LAST TIME OUT
Humboldt showed strong defensive resolve, but could not capitalize on its chances in a 2-0 defeat to Cal State Dominguez Hills last weekend. The Lumberjacks outshot the Toros 5-4 in the second half and generated several late opportunities, including a shot off the woodwork by defender Paris Ruiz in the 76th minute.
Midfielders Harper Thweatt and Izaiah Grosveld each registered a shot on goal. Despite holding Dominguez Hills to limited looks, Humboldt couldn't find the back of the net in the conference battle.
PREPPING FOR THE PIONEERS
Cal State East Bay enters the week having tied their last three opponents, including undefeated Stanislaus State. The Pioneers have been competitive on the road, keeping several matches within reach but failing to turn ties into wins.
Friday's meeting will be the lone regular-season matchup between the two programs this fall. Last season, Humboldt earned a 2-1 loss against East Bay in a hard-fought CCAA opener that came down to the final minutes.
HOW TO WATCH
UP NEXT
Following Friday's match, the Lumberjacks will return home to College Creek Field to host Stanislaus State (7-0-1) next week on Friday, Oct. 17 as they continue their midseason push.
