Lloyd Drops 21 at Biola, Jacks Fall Short

LA MIRADA, Calif. — Cal Poly Humboldt women's basketball battled from start to finish on Saturday afternoon but came up just short in a hard-fought 61–54 non-conference road loss to Biola inside Chase Gymnasium.

The Lumberjacks (0–3) were powered by Kyori Lloyd, who delivered a standout performance off the bench with 21 points and eight rebounds. Lloyd shot 7-for-15 from the field and was perfect at the free throw line, going 5-for-5. Jordyn Smith turned in another strong effort, posting 13 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks while anchoring Humboldt on both ends of the floor.

Humboldt started fast, taking an 18–17 lead after the first quarter behind three early three-pointers. The 'Jacks kept pace throughout the first half, trailing just 34–30 at the break. Biola gained a slight edge in the third quarter, using four made threes to outscore Humboldt 16–13 and build a cushion heading into the final frame. The Lumberjacks couldn't find their touch from beyond the arc in the second half, going 0-for-8 from three-point range, but continued to battle until the final minutes.

The 'Jacks controlled several key areas, scoring 30 points in the paint and forcing 20 points off turnovers. Humboldt also held its own on the boards, pulling down 38 rebounds to Biola's 40.

Biola (2–1) was led by Laney Grider's 16 points and eight rebounds, while Alyssa Kubo added 14 points for the Eagles.

Cal Poly Humboldt returns home to Lumberjack Arena for its next contest on Saturday, November 29 at 1:00 p.m. against Jessup University in a non-conference matchup — the team's final tune-up before opening CCAA play on December 4.
