Gaige Garcia delivered a masterful performance in the circle, throwing a one-hit complete-game shutout as Cal Poly Humboldt took down No. 14 Cal State East Bay, 4-0, on Thursday at the Bear River Complex.

Garcia (11-3) dominated from start to finish, allowing just one hit and striking out two while walking only one in a 90-pitch outing to keep the high-powered Pioneers (21-5, 9-4 CCAA) off the scoreboard.

Humboldt (19-11, 8-7 CCAA) struck early, plating two runs in the second inning. Katlyn Gifford opened the scoring with an RBI single to center, bringing home Alyssa Smokey. Moments later, Hailey Meisenbach followed with an RBI single of her own to extend the lead to 2-0.

The Jacks added insurance in the fourth inning when Marissa Brody delivered a clutch two-run double to deep center field, scoring Gifford and Meisenbach to make it 4-0.

Humboldt's offense collected seven hits on the day, with Gifford leading the charge, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Meisenbach, Brody, Vanessa Saltos, Bella Garcia, and Shelby Shanks each added a hit.

On the other side, East Bay's Marissa Quintero (10-2) suffered just her second loss of the season, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits while striking out five in six innings.

With the win, Humboldt not only secured a crucial conference victory but also handed the nationally ranked Pioneers their fourth CCAA loss of the season.

No. 14 Cal State East Bay Tosses No-Hitter Against Cal Poly Humboldt in Game Two of Thursday's Doubleheader

Cal Poly Humboldt was held hitless by No. 14 Cal State East Bay in a 2-0 defeat at Bear River Complex on Thursday afternoon. The Jacks (19-12, 8-8 CCAA) were unable to break through against Pioneers' ace Ashlee Toy, who delivered a dominant performance in the circle.

Toy (9-2) tossed a complete-game no-hitter, allowing just one baserunner while striking out four over seven innings. It marks the first time this season Humboldt has been held without a hit.

The Pioneers (22-5, 10-4 CCAA) capitalized early, scoring both of their runs in the first inning. Cynthia Carrillo delivered a two-run single up the middle, driving in Alexa Zumstein and Toy for what proved to be the game's only runs.

Despite the early deficit, Humboldt's pitching kept the game close. Alyssa Smokey (5-5) worked 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out one. Rayna Ponce was solid in relief, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings and allowing just one hit.

The Jacks struggled to generate offense against Toy, who mixed her pitches effectively and kept hitters off balance. Humboldt's lone baserunner came in the fourth inning when Alyssa Smokey was hit by a pitch.
