LOLETA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt closed out the weekend on a high note, securing a series win over No. 15 Cal State San Marcos with a 4-2 victory in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader at the Bear River Complex. After dropping the opener 7-2, the Lumberjacks (22-15, 11-11 CCAA) bounced back behind clutch hitting and strong pitching to take three out of four games from the nationally ranked Cougars (25-10, 11-9 CCAA). With key contributions from Julia Rivera, Alyssa Ramirez, and Gaige Garcia, Humboldt continues to build momentum in conference play heading into the final stretch of the regular season. It was the first time Humboldt has beaten San Marcos in a series since 2019.
"This was a big weekend for us and important that we got back on track," stated head coach Megan Corriea. "San Marcos is a good team and I'm proud of how we competed today, especially in game two. We have to keep this momentum rolling into April, starting next week on the road at Dominguez Hills."
