Successful Spring of Fundraising Efforts for Cal Poly Humboldt Athletics

ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt Intercollegiate Athletics is proud to announce the success of its spring fundraising initiatives, which brought in over $220,000 to support student-athlete scholarships and program enhancements. The strong showing from the Humboldt community highlights the power of collective generosity and reinforces a shared commitment to student success.

During the month of April, the Athletics Department participated in two major fundraising events—Cal Poly Humboldt Giving Day and the 39th Annual Dinner and Sports Auction—each playing a significant role in surpassing this remarkable fundraising milestone.

On April 2, the university hosted its Giving Day, a 24-hour online giving event that united alumni, families, friends, faculty, and staff in support of students across campus. Athletics emerged as a major beneficiary of the effort, raising nearly $139,000 across all teams. Funds will be directed to each sport's unique priorities, ensuring that every dollar enhances the student-athlete experience.

Just a few days later, on April 5, the tradition-rich Dinner and Sports Auction returned for its 39th year at the Sapphire Palace inside Blue Lake Casino. This year's event was headlined by Humboldt Hall of Famers Alex Cappa and Robin Meiggs, whose inspirational careers and continued engagement have left lasting legacies.

Cappa, a former Lumberjack offensive lineman and current NFL offensive lineman with the Las Vegas Raiders, shared stories from his journey—from the Redwood Bowl to the Super Bowl. Meiggs, a two-time NCAA Division II national champion and National Rowing Hall of Fame inductee, was honored for her trailblazing leadership and the continued impact of the Robin A. Meiggs Scholarship Fund.

The auction raised over $80,000, with all proceeds directly benefiting student-athlete scholarships. Supporters also had the opportunity to contribute directly to individual team needs, making the event a vital contributor to the department's overall fundraising success.

As the department looks ahead, the momentum from these spring events sets the stage for even greater impact in the year to come. The support of the Cal Poly Humboldt community is not only a testament to Lumberjack pride—it's a driving force behind the continued growth and success of Humboldt Athletics.
