HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal Poly Humboldt women's basketball team continued its historic start to conference play with a dominant 93-68 road victory over Cal State East Bay (4-10, 3-5 CCAA) on Friday night at Pioneer Gymnasium.
The Lumberjacks extended their winning streak to seven games, marking the program's longest run since February 2019, while improving to 8-0 in CCAA play. Humboldt's unbeaten conference start is its best since the 2014 season, and the Jacks remain tied for first place atop the league standings alongside Cal Poly Pomona and Chico State, who are also both 8-0.
Freshman center Jordyn Smith once again anchored the Lumberjacks on both ends of the floor, recording her eighth double-double of the season with a game-high 21 points and 14 rebounds, while adding three blocks and two steals. Smith shot 10-for-17 from the field as Humboldt scored 48 points in the paint and controlled the interior throughout the contest.
Shade Satica continued her stellar all-around play, finishing with 18 points, six rebounds, five assists, and six steals. Satica's defensive pressure fueled the Lumberjacks' transition attack, and she continues to lead the nation in steals per game.
Humboldt's defense set the tone from the opening quarter, forcing 24 Cal State East Bay turnovers that were converted into 20 points. The Lumberjacks also showcased their depth, receiving 36 points off the bench, led by Jada Barnes and Leamsi Acuña. Barnes contributed 15 points, eight assists, and two steals, while Acuña added 12 points, knocking down three triples in just 12 minutes of action.
The Lumberjacks shot an efficient 51.5 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from three-point range, building a 16-point halftime lead before pulling away in the second half.
Cal Poly Humboldt now turns its attention to a marquee Northern California rivalry matchup, hosting Chico State (12-2, 8-0 CCAA) on Thursday at Lumberjack Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., with first place in the CCAA standings on the line.
