CHICO, Calif. — Cal Poly Humboldt (10-6, 8-2 CCAA) fell on the road Saturday afternoon, 67–42, as Chico State (14-2, 10-0 CCAA) pulled away in the second half at Art Acker Gym.
The Wildcats held a narrow edge at halftime with the Lumberjacks within two possessions after 20 minutes of play, but Chico State used a strong second half to take control of the contest and remain unbeaten in CCAA action.
Shade Satica led Humboldt with an all-around performance, finishing with 11 points, seven rebounds, and five steals while logging 36 minutes. Kya Kanoho added 10 points off the bench, while Riley Sanz contributed nine rebounds and three assists for the Jacks.
Humboldt opened the game trading leads with Chico State through the first quarter, as the teams combined for five lead changes and three ties in the opening half. Despite solid defensive pressure early, the Jacks struggled to find consistent offense after the break as Chico State outscored Humboldt 37–18 in the final two quarters.
Through 10 games of CCAA play, Cal Poly Humboldt sits at 8–2 in conference action and controls third place in the league standings, remaining firmly in the CCAA postseason picture.
The Jacks return to Lumberjack Arena next week for a pivotal home stand, welcoming No. 11 Cal Poly Pomona (15-1, 10-0 CCAA) on Thursday at 5:30 PM before hosting Cal State San Bernardino (7-8, 5-5 CCAA) on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
