SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Cal Poly Humboldt women's basketball continued its dominant start to CCAA play on Thursday night, earning a 63–52 road victory over San Francisco State at the San Francisco Federal Credit Union Gym at Don Nasser Family Plaza.
With the win, the Lumberjacks improved to 9-4 overall and a perfect 7-0 in conference play, marking their best start in CCAA action since the 2014 season. The victory also extended Humboldt's winning streak to six straight games, the program's longest run since the 2019 season.
Freshman center Jordyn Smith once again paced Humboldt, recording her seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds while adding two steals and a block. Smith anchored a balanced Humboldt effort that saw three Lumberjacks score 12 points, including Shade Satica and Kyori Lloyd.
Humboldt took control early, opening the game with a 16–13 first quarter before erupting offensively in the second. The Lumberjacks shot nearly 59 percent from the field in the period and outscored the Gators 23–10 to carry a commanding 39–23 lead into halftime.
The Lumberjacks maintained control coming out of the break, holding San Francisco State to just 12 points combined in the third quarter and forcing 20 turnovers on the night. Humboldt capitalized with 18 points off turnovers and dominated inside, scoring 34 points in the paint.
San Francisco State made a push in the fourth quarter, outscoring Humboldt 17–7, but the Lumberjacks' defensive effort and work on the glass proved enough to secure the road win.
Humboldt also received strong contributions off the bench, highlighted by Kya Kanoho and Leamsi Acuna, who each scored eight points to help the Lumberjacks finish with 20 bench points.
Cal Poly Humboldt will look to keep its unbeaten conference streak alive on Saturday when the Lumberjacks travel to face Cal State East Bay (4-9, 3-4 CCAA). Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. from Pioneer Gymnasium in Hayward.
