ARCATA, Calif. - The Cal Poly Humboldt men's soccer team fell 3-0 to Cal State Los Angeles in CCAA action Friday afternoon at College Creek Field.
The result moved Humboldt to 2-6-3 overall and 1-4 in conference play.
Cal State LA opened the scoring in the seventh minute before doubling its advantage at the 22:18 mark.
Humboldt produced two early opportunities through
Luke Gomes. The freshman placed shots on target in the 14th and 17th minutes, but both attempts were saved.
The Lumberjacks continued searching for a response before halftime.
Dominik Chipp sent an attempt wide in the 25th minute, while
Izaiah Grosveld generated two shots during the final 17 minutes of the opening period.
Humboldt entered halftime trailing 2-0 after recording five shots, including two on goal.
The Lumberjacks held Cal State LA off the scoreboard through the opening 28 minutes of the second half. Grosveld recorded Humboldt's lone attempt of the period in the 60th minute before the Golden Eagles added their third goal at the 73:07 mark.
Benjamin McDonald played all 90 minutes in goal for Humboldt and recorded three saves, all during the opening half.
Cal State LA finished with a 20-6 advantage in shots and placed six attempts on goal. The Golden Eagles also held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks.
Grosveld led Humboldt with three shots, while Gomes finished with two attempts on target. Chipp added one shot.

The Lumberjacks will host Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m. at College Creek Field. The Cal Poly Clash will also serve as Senior Day.
