Lumberjacks Selected Fourth in 2026-27 CCAA Women’s Basketball Preseason Poll

ARCATA, Calif. - The Cal Poly Humboldt women's basketball team has been selected to finish fourth in the 2026-27 California Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll, the conference announced Friday.

The Lumberjacks received 140 points from the conference's coaches, finishing behind preseason favorite Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State LA and Chico State. Cal State Dominguez Hills completed the top five with 134 points.

Humboldt moved up three positions after being selected seventh in last season's preseason poll. The 'Jacks went on to produce one of their strongest campaigns in recent years, finishing 20-9 overall and 18-4 in CCAA play.

The Lumberjacks tied Cal State LA for second place in the conference standings and earned a first-round bye in the CCAA Tournament. Humboldt advanced directly to the semifinals, where its season ended against eventual tournament champion Cal State LA.

Humboldt was also included in the NCAA West Region rankings during the closing weeks of the regular season.

Cal Poly Pomona earned the top spot in the preseason poll with 190 points and eight first-place votes. The Broncos won the 2025-26 CCAA regular-season championship and advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight after capturing the West Region title.

Defending CCAA Tournament champion Cal State LA received the remaining six first-place votes and finished second with 186 points. Chico State followed in third with 159 points.

The 2026-27 season will mark the first year of 14-team CCAA women's basketball competition following the addition of Menlo and Fresno Pacific. The conference tournament will expand to seven teams, with the top two seeds receiving byes into the semifinals.

Humboldt will open the regular season Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Saint Martin's. The Lumberjacks begin conference play Thursday, Dec. 3, at Fresno Pacific.
