'Jacks Close Regular Season at Stanislaus State, CCAA Tourney Seeding on the Line

TURLOCK, Calif. – The Cal Poly Humboldt softball team closes out the regular season this weekend as the Lumberjacks travel to face Stanislaus State in a four-game CCAA series at Warrior Softball Field. Humboldt and Stanislaus State will open the series with a doubleheader on Friday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., followed by another twin bill on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Lumberjacks enter the final weekend of conference play 23-24 overall and 14-12 in CCAA action, sitting in third place in the conference standings after a dominant sweep of Chico State last weekend. With postseason positioning still not fully settled, Humboldt will look to carry its momentum on the road and officially lock in its spot in the CCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017.

LAST TIME OUT

Cal Poly Humboldt is coming off a statement weekend at home, sweeping Chico State in a four-game series to move into third place in the CCAA standings.

The 'Jacks opened Friday with a pair of comeback wins, including a 3-1 walk-off victory in game one highlighted by a two-run, walk-off home run from Alexa Garcia and a dominant pitching performance from the CCAA Pitcher of the Week, Lily Fournier, who allowed just one hit over seven innings. Humboldt followed with a 6-3 win in game two behind a six-run second inning and a 3-for-4 performance from Shelby Shanks.

On Saturday, Humboldt completed the sweep with an 8-4 win and a 5-2 victory to close out Senior Day in style. Shanks added a two-run home run in the finale, while Bella Garcia, Marissa Brody, and Alexa Garcia all played key roles throughout the weekend. In the circle, Fournier continued to anchor the staff, combining for another strong outing as the 'Jacks extended their winning momentum at a critical point in the season.

WINNING AT THE WARRIORS

Stanislaus State enters the weekend 19-23 overall and 8-18 in CCAA play, currently sitting at the bottom of the conference standings.

The Warriors have been competitive throughout conference play and will look to defend home field in their final series of the regular season. With both teams still jockeying for final placement, the matchup carries significant postseason implications for seeding and potential NCAA Tournament regional rankings.

For Humboldt, the focus will be on sustaining the energy from last weekend's sweep while continuing to execute offensively and rely on strong pitching performances from Lily Fournier and the rest of the staff. The Lumberjacks have shown the ability to respond in key moments all season, including multiple comeback wins and timely hitting from across the lineup.

With the regular season winding down, Humboldt heads into Turlock with an opportunity to solidify its standing and carry momentum directly into the CCAA Tournament.
