MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Cal Poly Humboldt men's cross country team travels to Monmouth, Oregon, this weekend to compete at the Mike Johnson Classic.
Saturday's meet will take place at Ash Creek Preserve and marks the Lumberjacks' first road competition of the 2026 season.
LAST TIME OUT
Humboldt opened its season by winning the Jim Hunt Invitational at Beau Pre Golf Club.
Jonah Grubbs was the first to finish for the Lumberjacks with a time of 25:50.5, while
Trevor Stewart recorded a personal-best 25:55.5 to finish fifth.
Nicholas Woolery placed 10th in 26:13.2, and
Jacob Christopher completed Humboldt's scoring group with a 12th-place finish in 26:39.0. The five performances gave the Lumberjacks 31 team points.
Kees Van Der Meer and
Daniel Shaver followed in 13th and 14th, respectively, as Humboldt placed seven runners among the top 14.
MIKE JOHNSON CLASSIC
The Lumberjacks will move from their home course to Ash Creek Preserve for their second meet of the season.
The Mike Johnson Classic will offer Humboldt its first opportunity to compete against a larger regional field as the team continues preparing for the
CCAA Championships in November.
