ARCATA, Calif. -
Graysen Trupp delivered 15 kills and Cal Poly Humboldt volleyball produced one of its most efficient offensive performances of the season in a 3-0 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday afternoon inside Lumberjack Arena.
The Lumberjacks completed the Youth & Camper Day sweep by set scores of 25-20, 25-10 and 25-22.
Humboldt established control late in the opening frame. After building a 20-16 advantage, the Lumberjacks maintained their separation and closed the set with an
Avary Spoja kill and a Monterey Bay setting error.
The Jacks overwhelmed the Otters offensively in the second set, recording 19 kills with only one error on 27 attacks for a .667 hitting percentage. Humboldt turned an 11-8 lead into a 22-8 advantage behind a dominant serving run from
Tatyana Jennings.
Trupp delivered five kills during the closing stretch, including the set-winning swing that secured a 25-10 victory.
Monterey Bay battled back in the third and pulled even at 21-21. Humboldt responded by scoring four of the final five points. Jennings broke the tie with a kill before Spoja recorded three of the Lumberjacks' final four points to complete the sweep.
Trupp led all players with 15 kills and did not commit an error on 20 attacks, finishing with a .750 hitting percentage. She also added two total blocks.
Spoja contributed seven kills while hitting .333 and recorded four total blocks.
Kendall Fenstermacher added six kills and 10 digs, while Jennings finished with five kills, four digs and two service aces.
Phoebe Bland led the defensive effort at the net with five block assists. Humboldt finished with eight total blocks and limited Monterey Bay to a .119 hitting percentage.
Elizabeth Jade Andrade anchored the back row with a match-high 18 digs.
Brielle Wilson distributed 19 assists and added a service ace, while
Claire Crawford recorded 13 assists and five digs.
Humboldt finished with 40 kills, 54 digs and four service aces while hitting .287 for the match.
The victory improved the Lumberjacks to 7-5 overall while their CCAA record remains 2-2.
