Humboldt State's East Gym has provided the friendly confines for Lumberjack basketball and volleyball teams since the original Forbes Complex facility was built in 1931. Much has changed since then, with a complete renovation in the 70s and several "tune-ups" over the years.
Consistent throughout the years has been the excitement of Lumberjack sports played within the East Gym walls. Recent seasons have seen the gym's capacity tested as fans have lined up more than two hours before gametime to reserve one of the 1,400 seats.
The gym features hardwood flooring that is refinished twice yearly. During the 1990s and early 2000s the gym has been redecorated twice, and a complete earthquake retrofit was also completed.
Bleachers supply the primary seating for the East Gym, but sidelines and baseline seating has been added in the past two years. Those premium seats on "Pepsi Row" and "Union 76 Row" offer cushioned seating as part of the package for those fans lucky enough to purchase early season passes.
