Coach Blas enters his sixth season as an assistant women's basketball coach under Head Coach Michelle Bento-Jackson at Cal Poly Humboldt.
A Los Angeles, California, native, Blas is a proud alumnus of the former Humboldt State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2019. During the 2018-19 season, he competed as a member of the Lumberjack men's basketball team.
Blas began his collegiate career at Los Angeles Valley College. As a member of the Monarchs men's basketball team from 2014-16, he served as team captain for two seasons and established himself as one of the conference's top shooters. He was named Western State Conference Player of the Week three times and was amongst the top 10 in the state of California in three-point field goal percentage.
Since returning to his alma mater, Blas has played an integral role in the continued growth of the Cal Poly Humboldt women's basketball program. Blas is passionate about mentoring student-athletes, building authentic relationships, and helping players reach their full potential on the court, in the classroom, and in their communities.
Before returning to Humboldt, Blas was working for Optum Care as the Project Coordinator for the Business Development Team. As well as serving as the head coach and trainer for the Southeast Warriors AAU program.
Guillermo and fiancé Sidney Afsarzadeh reside in McKinleyville with their daughter Nazalia Solei Blas.
