Thomas enters her first season as graduate assistant coach at Cal Poly Humboldt under Angela Spoja after playing the last five seasons for the Lumberjacks. A Denver, Colorado native, Thomas works with the strength and conditioning coaches to create volleyball specific training programs, assists with the day-to-day operations, and also helps with practice planning.
During her five years at Humboldt, Thomas was very involved in the campus community. She was elected Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) President in 2020, where she served for two and a half years. To name a few, Thomas partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and led two "Workout for Wishes" fundraisers that helped two children put money towards their wish with over $3,000 raised. Thomas led the annual canned food drive and brought in over 700 cans that were donated to the local campus food pantry. She also partnered with "Go 4 The Goal" and began the Lace Up For Pediatric Cancer initiative, where people purchased gold shoe laces to wear during competition. The primary goal is to assist families with financial and logistical burdens so that they are able to focus all their energy on caring for their child. Thomas was awarded Community Engagement Athlete of the Year by the Cal Poly Humboldt Athletics Department.
Thomas helped with the launching of the Cal Poly Humboldt Dam Worth It branch in the Fall of 2021. The Dam Worth It initiative stemmed from Oregon State University to raise awareness of mental health in student-athletes and use the platform of sport and storytelling to end the stigma of mental health in athletes. Thomas' role was the Campus and Community Outreach Executive.
