Paul Karver begins his seventh season as head coach of the Humboldt State women’s soccer program. Karver is the fourth head coach in Lumberjack women’s soccer history.
He has compiled a 30-64-7 record has the Green and Gold head coach. Under Karver’s leadership 12 Jacks earned All-CCAA honors, 38 have collected conference All-Academic awards and one was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.
HSU jumped out to a 3-0 start to the 2017 season and finished the year with a 7-9-1 campaign. Karver’s team defeated rival Chico State, 2-1, at home and also picked up conference wins against Cal Poly Pomona and San Francisco State. Alex Jenkins led the Jacks in conference award winners along with Katelin Talbert and Sabine Postma.
The North Coast team used its home field advantage in 2016. HSU ended the season with a 4-12-2 record, but the Jacks went 3-3-1 at College Creek Field. Bridget Daley and Alex Jenkins collected All-CCAA honors for their performances during the season.
The 2015 season marked the program’s first winning campaign since 2006. The nine overall victores and five conference wins were the program’s most in seven years. HSU was one of just two teams to defeat national semifinalists, Western Washington, with a 2-1 home victory. The 2015 team also featured four All-CCAA performers: Caitlin Plese, Jillian Andersen, Bridget Daley and Courtney Rebata.
Karver doubled the team's win total from his first to second year, finishing with six victories in 2014. He also coached All-CCAA honorable mention selections Lindsey Mitchell and Erica McMullen. 2014 marked the first season with multiple conference award winners since the 2006 campaign.
In his first season at the helm, Karver inherited a one-win program, and started the rebuild process. The Jacks finished with three wins and three ties, and the programs first All-CCAA honoree since 2010. Lizzie Mitchell was named to the conference honorable mention team.
Karver has been a women's soccer assistant coach at the Division I level the three years prior to beginning at HSU, coaching at University of Oregon in 2012 and University of Las Vegas in 2010 and 2011. He has also coached four years as an assistant at other schools.
