Another week equals two more roadtrips for Jacks

ARCATA – The Humboldt State volleyball team continues California Collegiate Athletic Association play, hitting the road for the second straight week. The Lumberjacks first travel to Rohnert Park to take on travel partner Sonoma State on Wednesday, then travel to La Jolla, Saturday to face No. 15 nationally ranked University of California, San Diego. Both matches begin at 7 p.m.

Lumberjack Notes: The Lumberjacks have dropped three straight matches, the last two at the hands of nationally ranked teams, No. 19 Cal Poly Pomona and No. 2 Cal State San Bernardino. The Jacks hold a 6-9 overall record, and a 4-4 mark in CCAA play. …Humboldt State ranks No. 3  in the CCAA in blocking, averaging 2.21 blocks per set. Toni Kroeker averages 1.09 blocks per set to rank third amongst CCAA players. ….Offensively, the Jacks average 1.72 service aces per set while holding their opponents to 1.68 per set. …Lynsey Adams is Humboldt State' offensive leader with an average of 2.85 kills per set. Dani Nelson leads the team on the defensive side, averaging 4.23 digs per set, while the team is still out-blocking its opponents, 117 to 73.5.
 
Opponent Notes:
Sonoma State University currently holds a 14-3 overall record and 6-2 mark in the CCAA. Last weekend the Seawolves ended their 10-match winning streak after they were defeated in four sets to Cal Poly Pomona, Friday, and then fell in three to Cal State San Bernardino, Saturday. Sonoma State is currently tied for second in the CCAA with Cal Poly Pomona and UCSD. The Seawolves lead the conference in digs, averaging 19.42 per set, while holding the No. 4 slot in hitting percentage (.204) and blocking (2.03 blocks per set). In the CCAA individual categories, Lindsay Brown is fourth in assists, averaging 8.96 per set, and Taylor Krenwinkel holds the No. 3 spot in digs, averaging 4.46 per set. …UC San Diego spilt its weekend play, losing to Chico State, 2-3, and defeating Cal State Stanislaus, 3-1. The Tritons now hold a 12-3 overall record and are 6-2 in the CCAA. …The Tritons lead the conference in service aces, averaging 2.86 per set. They also currently hold the No. 3 spot in hitting percentage at .205. UCSD holds the No. 4 slot in assists, averaging 11.24 per set. UCSD has several athletes on the conferences top-10 list. Sylvia Schmidt holds the No. 2 spot in hitting percentage (.343), Elaine Chen is third in assists (9.62 per set) and Janessa Werhane holds the No. 1 slot in service aces (0.63 per set).
 
Head to Head: Humboldt State holds a 22-27 all-time match record against Sonoma State University. During the teams last meeting the Lumberjacks fell short to the Seawolves, 2-3. …The Lumberjacks hold a 0-5 overall record against UC San Diego. The Tritons defeated the Jacks 2-3 during the last match up.
