ROHNERT PARK – Sonoma State's Kristy Sather and Sarah Illingworth's team-high 10 kills helped sweep Humboldt State's volleyball team in three during California Collegiate Athletic Association competition, Wednesday.

The Lumberjacks post a 6-10 overall record and are 4-5 in CCAA play, while the Seawolves are now 15-3 overall and 7-2 in conference.

SSU started set one with a four-point run before the Lumberjacks answered back with six back-to-back kills, for a 7-4 lead. SSU tied the Jacks at 7-7, before dominating the rest of the set and holding the Jacks to only four more points for a 25-12 final score.

In the same fashion as set one, the Seawolves started set two with a multiple-point run, 5-0, before the Jacks were able to answer back with a Mallory Briney kill. The Lumberjacks continued to battle with kills from Toni Kroeker and Lynsey Adams, while taking advantage of attacking errors, to stay in the set 8-5. SSU's two kills and service aces continued its momentum and didn't let up, as they did not let HSU get within seven points to finish the set 25-16.

The Jacks started set three on the right foot taking an early 11-5 lead. HSU continued its lead to 16-12 before the Seawolves went on a six-point run to take an 18-16 lead. The Lumberjacks stayed within two points of SSU before an attacking error and back-to-back kills by Sather helped SSU take the set, 25-20.

Adams and Joliann Arzadon paced the Jacks with seven kills apiece, while Arzadon and Liz Shannon dished out 10 and 13 sets, respectively.

Lindsay Brown's 34 assists and Taylor Krenwinkel's 16 digs contributed to the Seawolves win.

The Lumberjacks continue CCAA play on the road, as they travel to La Jolla to take on No. 15 nationally ranked University of California, San Diego, Saturday with a 7 p.m. start.
