ARCATA - This week Humboldt State's volleyball team will host its first California Collegiate Athletic Association matches in Lumberjack Arena. Friday night the Lumberjacks take on Cal State Dominguez Hills and on Saturday they face the the No. 1 team in the CCAA standings, Cal State Los Angeles. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Lumberjack Notes: The Lumberjacks began conference play last weekend on the road. Falling short to No. 21 nationally ranked Chico State in three sets, the Lumberjacks then bounced back the following night defeating Cal Stanislaus 3-2. …Coming off the road with a victory and a loss, the Lumberjacks now stand with a 3-6 overall and 1-1 CCAA record on the season. Joliann Arzadon, led the way with nine kills, one ace, and one block. So far this season Arzadon averages 2.29 kills per set, the second highest average on the team. …Also making a contribution was junior middle blocker
Danielle Wells who had seven kills and five blocks. Wells continues to lead the team in kills, averaging 2.65 per set. …In the victory against the Warriors, senior outside hitter
Mallory Briney dominated the floor with 10 kills and five blocks to bring her average to 2.00 kills per set. …The Lumberjacks' defense is lead by junior defensive specialist

Opponent Notes: Cal State Dominguez Hills holds a 1-9 overall record and 0-2 CCAA mark on the season. Last weekend the Toros were defeated by both Cal State Los Angeles and UC San Diego, 3-0. …The freshman and sophomore class leads the Toros so far this season. Sophomore outside hitter Ashley Clark leads the team in kills averaging, 2.00 per set. Sophomore Marissa Anderson follows shortly behind, averaging 1.90 kills, and freshman out side hitter Madison Horsley averages 3.06 digs per set… Cal State Los Angeles is currently ranked No. 1 in the CCAA. The Golden Eagles are undefeated with a 9-0 overall record and are 2-0 in the CCAA. They recently defeated both Cal State Dominguez Hills and UC San Diego, 3-0. …Junior outside hitter Gabriel Bulawczyk leads the Golden Eagles, averaging 3.86 kills and 3.61 digs per game. Senior Ursala Vieira averages 3.25 kills, while sophomore Stefanie Gay leads the team in digs, averaging 4.57 a set.
Head to Head: Humboldt State holds 10-2 all-time match record against Cal State Dominguez Hills. During the team's last meeting the Lumberjacks fell short to the Toros, 1-3… The Lumberjacks hold a 2-8 record against Cal State Los Angeles. The last meeting ended in favor of the Golden Eagles, 3-1.
