ARCATA - Humboldt State's volleyball team ended its four-match winning streak, falling 22-25, 10-25, 16-25 to San Francisco State Saturday.

The Lumberjacks fell to an overall 6-7 record and now hold a 4-2 California Collegiate Athletic Association mark, while the Gators are now 8-6 overall and 2-4 in the CCAA.

Behind Mary Maiocco's serve in the first set, the Gators took advantage of attacking errors while tallying three kills for an early 9-2 lead. The Lumberjacks fought back as they closed the gap with a 22-25 score, but back-to-back kills from Brittany Powell and Beth Perkins ended the set in favor of SF State.

"San Francisco State came out tonight and served very well," said Humboldt State head volleyball coach Sue Woodstra. "It was very difficult for us to find our rhythm."

In sets two and three, SF State took early leads that HSU could not comeback from, to finish the sweep.

The Gators' were paced by Perkins' .366 hitting percentage (17 kills) and 10 digs, while Maiocco contributed 30 assists.

Joliann Arzadon and Mallory Briney led HSU with six kills apiece, while Lynsey Adams and Danielle Wells followed with 5 each. Arzadon and Liz Shannon dished out 10 and 12 assists, respectively, as Dani Nelson added 13 digs.

The Lumberjacks hit the road next week as they travel to San Bernardino to face Cal State San Bernardino, Friday, and finish the weekend in Pomona, to take on
Cal Poly Pomona. Both matches start at 7 p.m.
