ARCATA — Cal State East Bay rallied from two sets down to claim a 22-25, 17-25, 25-23, 25-18, 15-9 win over Humboldt State in California Collegiate Athletic Association volleyball Saturday.

The Pioneers used a balanced offensive attack to claim the victory, improving their record to 6-13 overall and 4-7 in the CCAA. Humboldt State dropped to 6-13, and is now 2-9 in league matches.

HSU poised for the swee after taking the first two sets behind Oceana Matsubu and Danielle Wells, who finished with 19 and 15 kills, respectively. But the Jacks let the third set slip away after leading most of the way, allowing the Pioneers to grab the momentum.

Cal State East Bay was led by Arliel Ajagu, who put down 10 kills, while Brianna Bryant and Roxanne Neely each recorded nine. Neely also had four block assists, and Lauren Massa contributed a team-high 19 digs.

Wells also achieved a milestone in the match, recording three block assists to draw her even with HSU Hall-of-Famer Jenn Lundeen for the Lumberjack career blocking record. Wells, a senior, now has 342 blocks, and will stand alone on top the leader list following her next rejection.

Humboldt State returns to the road for CCAA matches this weekend, facing Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday and Cal State Los Angeles on Saturday.
