CHICO – The No. 20 Chico State Wildcats out shot the Humboldt State men's soccer team 19-to-4 and defeated the Jacks 1-0 on Friday night in University Soccer Stadium in Chico.
With the win Chico State improves to 6-1-0 overall, 4-1-0 in California collegiate Athletics Association play. The Wildcats remain in first place in the North Divison. The Jacks fall to 1-4-2, 1-3-1 in conference action.
The only offense the Jacks could muster all night were four shots by senior striker
Josh Suggs. Two, both on-goal came in the first half. Chico State, by comparison, took 11 shots in the first 45 minutes but just two were on frame. The sides went to the locker rooms at 0-0.
The Wildcats broke the tie in the 51st minute. Mike Janjigan headed a corner kick at the back post to beat Verle. Michael Tieku was credited with the assist. It was Janjigan's second goal of the season.
Beside dominance in shots, Chico State took six corner kicks to the Jacks one.

Kyle Verle made four saves in the loss. For the Wildcats, James Stroud played the first half in goal and made two saves. Sam Evans played the second half and did not face any shots on goal.
The Jacks wrap up this two-game road trip on Sunday. HSU is in Turlock to face the Warriors of Cal State Stanislaus with kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m. Fans can follow all the action through live stats on the CSUS athletics web site.
