POMONA – After starting the first set with a five-point lead, Humboldt State couldn't grab a hold of its momentum and dropped 3-0 against Cal Poly Pomona (25-21, 25-17, 25-17).
With the loss, the Lumberjacks fall to 5-10 overall, 2-10 in California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Broncos improve to 9-7 overall, 6-6 in conference action.
The Lumberjacks started the first set strong, scoring five unanswered points and kept the lead until CPP tied the game at 9-9. It turned out to be the only lead the Jacks would keep for the rest of the match.
Cal Poly Pomona's offense proved to be too strong for the Jacks as Taylr Kreutziger and Diana Lake powered 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Lake also registered 16 digs on the night to help keep the Humboldt State Lumberjacks at bay.
HSU continues action on the road next weekend as they travel to Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus, both games starting at 7 p.m.
