#25 Wildcats blank Jacks

Box Score CHICO – Sundays have been tough for Humboldt State on the men's soccer pitch.  The latest one proved to be no different against 25th-ranked Chico State.
 
The Wildcats smothered the Lumberjacks' attack, while finding the net once in each half of a 2-0 blanking.
 
HSU falls to 0-5-1 including two overtime defeats on Sunday matches.  The Jacks dip under the .500 mark once again at 6-7-1 overall and 4-7-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association North.
 
Chico State (11-2-1/9-2-1 CCAA South) dominated the shots by a 16-1 margin including 11-1 in the opening 45 minutes.
 
Octavio Guzman put the home team on the board at 18:00 on a low boot from 15 yards.
 
The Jacks' lone shot of the first half and match came on a Ryan Connor head that went high with 32:57 coming off the clock.
 
Jake Ward posted a second Wildcats score with just under 16 minutes gone in the latter half for the eventual 2-0 final.
 
Goalie Ryan Ades made three saves in net for HSU.
 
HSU will continue on the road next Friday with a 3 p.m. match at Sonoma State.
