ARCATA, Calif. – Despite trailing the majority of the match, No. 8 Cal Poly Pomona scored a late goal to tie and added the game-winner in the first overtime to edge Humboldt State, 2-1, in men's soccer Friday afternoon.
 
At 11:07, the Lumberjacks (8-6-1/4-5 California Collegiate Athletic Association) struck first when Sam Wahl directed a deflection into the goal for a 1-0 lead. HSU kept the lead for the next 72 minutes of play.
 
The Broncos (15-0-1/9-0 CCAA) kept its shot barrage on the home goal. Daniel Garcia, Jr. converted the visitors' 14^th second half shot to tie the match, 1-1, at 83:54. Neither squad was able to break the deadlock in the final six minutes of regulation.
 
With 2:49 left in the first overtime, Cal Poly Pomona's Abiel Coronado tapped in a loose ball into the lower left part of the goal for the game-winner.
 
HSU goalie Javier Torres did his part. The senior saved six shots and moved out of the box to assist on several other plays.
 
The Jacks complete their home schedule with 'Senior Day' Sunday. HSU host UC San Diego in a 2 p.m. match.
