ARCATA, Calif. - For the third week in a row, Humboldt State volleyball travels to the Bay Area to play a pair of matches.
After a split of the opening weekend of California Collegiate Athletic Association action, the Lumberjacks will have stiffer competition in their second week. HSU will battle formerly-ranked Sonoma State on Friday night, before heading across the Golden Gate Bridge for the Saturday evening contest at San Francisco State with both beginning at 7 p.m.

JACKS WIN CCAA OPENER FOR FIRST TIMEFor the first time in nine tries, HSU claimed victory in its CCAA-opening league match last Friday night. The Jacks swept past the host Otters of Cal State Monterey Bay, 3-0, behind 12 kills by Symone Hayden.
BILES LEADING DEFENSE
One of the HSU newcomers making an impact on the 2014 team is Haley Biles. The Sierra College transfer has shined as the defensive anchor over the first six matches of the season.
Biles lead HSU with 87 digs and 3.78 digs per set. Last week, the junior recorded 11 digs against Cal State Monterey Bay and added 17 digs the following night at Cal State East Bay.
She also has seven service aces.
