CHICO, Calif. – Humboldt State split a road twinbill against Chico State Friday. The Wildcats captured a five-inning 8-0 win in the first game, and the Lumberjacks captured a come-from-behind 3-2 nightcap victory.
The Green and Gold improve to 37-11 overall and 23-7 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play. Friday's results create a tie atop the CCAA standings as Cal State Monterey Bay holds a 23-7 conference mark.
A costly error to start the second inning of Friday's series opener allowed Chico State to take a 3-0 lead. The Wildcats added four runs on five hits in the fourth inning.
Courtney Brown led the way for the Chico batters. She was one of three Wildcats with a multi-hit outing and was responsible for three of their 10 hits. She also drove in a run on a fifth inning solo homer.
The Wildcats' Haley Gilham tossed a one-hitter in her 12
th victory of the season.
Breonna Bejaran notched the only hit for the Jacks. She hit a double in the fifth.
Chico led 2-0 through the first five innings of the nightcap and rode a dominating one-hit performance by starter Brooke Langeloh.
Tiffany Hollingsworth led the HSU comeback charge in the fifth. After a Wildcat error scored
Hanna Holland for the Jacks' first run, Hollingsworth put the Green and Gold ahead on a two-run long ball. The round trip shot was her 15
th of the season.

Katie Obbema went the distance, allowed two runs and picked up her 17
th win of the season. She struck out 11 and allowed a walk against the Wildcats.
Holland reached base in both games and extended her reached base streak to 47 games. Sonoma State's Keeley Ray has the conference's longest current streak with 49.
The Oakdale, Calif., native swiped one base Friday – her 46
th of the year. Holland's stolen base total is the third-best in a single season in program history, and it ties the mark held by former Lumberjack Kathryn Hutchings (1997). The freshman is seven bases shy of matching the top single-season record held by Jamie Peterson (1997).
The Jacks face the Wildcats in a series-ending doubleheader Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
