Daley Scores in Women's Soccer Loss to Simon Fraser

BURNABY, British Columbia – The Humboldt State women's soccer team (0-2) scored its first goal of the season, but were defeated by Simon Fraser (1-0) late Saturday afternoon.

The Lumberjacks fell behind early, conceding a goal to SFU's Christiana Dickson in the 14th minute. Not five minutes later, the Jacks responded. Freshman Bridget Daley headed in a cross from the right side at the 17:21 mark.

The score remained tied going into the half and for the first 20+ minutes after intermission. In the 66th minute, SFU's Dickson scored her second of the game to give the Clan the lead, 2-1.

As the Jacks were pushing late for an equalizer, the sister of Dickson, Allyson Dickson gave SFU some cushion with a free kick strike in the 89th minute.

Caitlyn Plese made her second start for Humboldt, and tallied five saves in the match. Courtney Rebata and Daley each recorded three shots, with two on frame apiece.

The Green and Gold will return stateside for a pair of nonconference games at College Creek Field. HSU will host Western Washington on Sept. 9 and Dixie State the following day. Both matches will kick off at 3 p.m.
