SEASIDE, Calif. – Humboldt State volleyball closed out its six-day road trip with a 3-2 (25-11, 17-25, 28-26, 23-25, 11-15) loss to Cal State Monterey Bay.
Tuesday's loss was the Lumberjacks third straight and moves the North Coast squad to 8-7 overall and 3-4 against California Collegiate Athletic Association opponents. Volleyball's road trip featured losses to Chico State, Stanislaus State and Monterey Bay.
"This road trip was an eye opener for us," said head coach
Kelly Wood. "We have to figure out a way to get some wins while on the road. We had a great effort tonight, but had too many unforced errors, and we can't do that against the teams in our conference. The team is remaining positive, and we plan to come home and get ourselves back on track".
Symone Hayden and
Nicole Bewley led the attack for the Jacks with 17 and 16 kills, respectively.
As a team, HSU outperformed the Otters in every category except aces and blocks. Monterey Bay finished with nine total blocks and 14 aces.
Humboldt State returns home Friday, Oct. 14 to face Sonoma State. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
