ARCATA, Calif. – The Humboldt State volleyball team hits the road this weekend for a six-day road trip, during which it will face conference opponents Chico State (Friday, Oct. 7), Stanislaus State (Saturday, Oct. 8) and Cal State Monterey Bay (Tuesday, Oct. 11).
"We would love to go undefeated on this road trip, that is always going to be our goal," said head coach
Kelly Wood. "We will just take it one match at a time, and we start with Chico Friday night. We know the Wildcats will be a challenge."
HSU has won five of its last six matches and defeated Chico State and Stanislaus State two weeks ago. With the two wins, HSU sits at 8-4 overall and 3-1 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play.
Chico also heads into the match following back-to-back wins after sweeping both Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino last weekend. The Wildcats are 10-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play. Stanislaus State split last weekend and is 6-8 overall and 3-2 in conference play. Cal State Monterey Bay dropped both its matches last weekend, and the Otters sit at 7-6 overall and 2-4 in the CCAA.
"Chico and Stanislaus both have tough gyms to play in, and they both draw big crowds," said Wood. "Both teams are playing well, and we will be ready. Monterey is a little bit younger and has been a little up and down. I feel like our experience and age should help us against Monterey next Tuesday."
