CHICO, Calif. – Humboldt State volleyball fell to Chico State in four sets (16-25, 23-25, 25-19, 15-25) Friday night in CCAA action.
The loss drops HSU to 8-5 overall and 3-2 overall in conference play.
"We failed to execute in several areas tonight, and we cannot afford that against a highly talented and very athletic Chico State squad," said head coach
Kelly Wood. "It was the usual Humboldt versus Chico battle, it was good volleyball, but they executed more consistently than we were able to tonight. We need to stay positive and prepare for another tough match up tomorrow at Stanislaus."
Nicole Bewley and
Symone Hayden led the way for the Jacks scoring 13 and 12.5 points, respectively, and both totaled 11 kills and an assist. Olivia Mediano led the way for Chico with a match high 24.5 points on 21 kills and three assists.
Chico State totaled just one more attack attempt than HSU, but was able to record 10 more kills than the Jacks. HSU also had 22 attack errors compared to just 15 for the Wildcats.
Humboldt State volleyball will need a short memory as it has a quick turnaround and travels to face Stanislaus State in Turlock Saturday at 7 p.m.
