TURLOCK, Calif. – Humboldt State volleyball fell to Stanislaus State in straight sets (18-25, 17-25, 19-25) Saturday night in California Collegiate Athletic Association action.
The Jacks, playing on the road for the second consecutive night, struggled to find their stride against the Warriors.
The loss drops HSU to 8-6 overall and 3-3 in CCAA play. With the win, Stanislaus State improves to 7-9 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
"Tonight was a very uninspired effort by our team," said head coach
Kelly Wood. "We have to make a major change prior to Tuesday's match versus Monterey Bay."
Alex Hasenstab led the Jacks with eight kills.
Symone Hayden added six kills, and
Katherine Rifilato finished with five kills and a team-leading 12 assists.
The Warriors totaled 40 kills compared to just 27 for the Jacks. Stanislaus State also had seven total blocks.
"Our defense this weekend, both in the front and the back row needs to improve," said Wood. "It has been too easy to terminate against us so far this weekend. Sustaining rallies will take a bunch of pressure off of us in all other areas of the game."
HSU remains on the road for more CCAA action as they take on Cal State Monterey Bay Tuesday at 5 p.m.
