SEASIDE, Calif. – Humboldt State softball never trailed in its conference-opening series with Monterey Bay. The Lumberjacks (9-1-1, 4-0) picked up the weekend sweep after taking two games on Saturday from the Otters (5-6, 0-4).

Game 1: Humboldt State 3, Monterey Bay 0

Katie Obbema had a no-hitter heading into the final inning of Saturday's first game. The senior pitched a gem, but did allow two seventh inning base hits before closing out the game with her second shutout victory of the season.

Kelly Sonnemann's RBI single put the Jacks on the board in the second inning.

Tiffany Hollingsworth doubled down the left field line scoring Holland to double the Green and Gold lead in the fourth, 2-0.

Game 2: Humboldt State 10, Monterey Bay 1

Madison Williams continued with the weekend's pitching dominance. She allowed just one run over seven innings and struck out nine in the win.

Seven different Lumberjacks tallied RBIs in the win, with Kalyn Paque, Julie Pena, and Breonna Bejaran leading the way with two apiece. Paque's pinch-hit home run in the fifth made it 8-1.
