No. 3-Ranked Softball Sweeps Warriors, Extends Winning Streak to 10 Straight

ARCATA, Calif. – No. 3-ranked Humboldt State softball wrapped its series sweep of visiting Stanislaus State Saturday. The Lumberjacks won the first game of the afternoon 9-4 and the second game 3-0.

The Green and Gold improved to 35-3-1 overall and 24-2 versus California Collegiate Athletic Association Competition. With Sunday's wins, the Jacks extended the conference's second longest winning streak to 10 games.

HSU hosts Sonoma State Monday and Tuesday at HSU Softball Field. The four-game series against the Seawolves was postponed earlier this season due to inclement weather. Monday's twinbill is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

GAME ONE
(Humboldt State 9, Stanislaus State 4)

Despite spotting the Warriors a 2-0 lead, the Jacks rallied to capture a win in the rubber match.

Hanna Holland and Darian Harris hit RBI singles in the fourth inning to even the score at 2-2. Holland swiped a pair of bases in the frame.

HSU added three runs in the fourth and four in the fifth to take a commanding lead. The Jacks registered five hits in the four-run fifth inning, and Julie Pena and Breonna Bejaran supplied back-to-back RBI doubles.

Katie Obbema allowed four runs, two earned, in the game. The senior pitched a complete game and recorded six strikeouts. She improved her record to 16-2.

The Jacks finished the game with 10 hits and six stolen bases. Harris, Bejaran and Winona Vigil each had multi-hit performances.

GAME TWO
(Humboldt State 3, Stanislaus State 0)

Holland led off the second game with a double and moved to third on a wild pitch. Tiffany Hollingsworth dropped a squeeze bunt in front of the circle to bring home the game's first run.

A Vigil double gave the Jacks a 2-0 advantage in the second, and HSU added an insurance run in the fourth inning. Illa Haley reached base on a fielder's choice in the fourth, stole second and third, and stole home as the Warriors tried to pick off an HSU runner at first.

Madison Williams tossed 103 pitches and limited the Warriors to just three hits in the complete-game outing. She struck out nine batters and issued just one walk.
