ARCATA, Calif. – The Humboldt State women's soccer team will continue its schedule of four consecutive home games this weekend, entertaining two CCAA foes in Cal State Dominguez Hills Friday at 1 p.m. and Cal State LA Sunday at 1 p.m.

The weekend follows one that saw the Jacks fight hard, but come up short in a double overtime loss versus UC San Diego, 2-1, on Friday, and fall at home to Cal State San Marcos on Sunday, 1-0.

"There were six points on the table for us, 100 percent," said Head Coach Paul Karver. "You looked at the way the girls played against the No. 7 team in the country in UCSD, and that's a really good program. We come out, we get a great early goal, the tactics were right, and the girls were playing well ... the girls made a lot of the right decisions, they did what they felt was the correct thing to do in all those moments, and they dedicated themselves to what we asked them to dedicate themselves to. So that one was bittersweet, because we played well and we felt we deserved at least a point out of that one."

Karver said his team was looking forward to the remainder of its schedule, with three quality CCAA opponents to come and a lot of opportunity for the Jacks to advance toward potentially qualifying for the CCAA tournament.

The team will be celebrating Senior Day on Sunday, with the team honoring Niccole Mullens, McCall Madriago and Taylor McMillin.

Karver said his team will try to avoid what he called a potential trap game with Dominguez Hills, which is in the lower tier of the CCAA, in advance of the date with Cal State LA, which is second in the conference.

Looking ahead, Mullens said that in order to get into the postseason, "It's going to take grit and want to be there. This weekend is a great opportunity for us to really execute; last weekend, all the fans were pumped and ready to be out there supporting us."

"The chemistry is on this team is awesome; everyone has each other's backs and we play for each other," said Mullens, who says that her experience with this year's squad is the most fun she's ever had playing a sport.

Going into the weekend's action, the Jacks stand at 6-7-1 overall and 2-6-1 in conference.
