ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – A stretch of four matches in four days came to a close Monday afternoon as the Humboldt State volleyball team lost to Sonoma State in straight sets (19-25, 22-25, 21-25).

HSU fell to 3-19 overall and 2-14 in conference play.

The Jacks recorded the first point of set one, but the Seawolves scored the next four and led for the remainder of the frame. Anita Eichenour recorded three of her nine kills in the 25-19 result.

Alex Lolland and Eichenour combined for four kills to help power HSU to an early 7-3 lead in the second set. Sonoma State rebounded and a kill by Morgan Annala gave the Seawolves a 21-20 advantage and the lead the rest of the way.

The third set was tightly contested and featured eight ties. Kills by Kelsey McIntire and Courtney Seda provided the final points to seal the match for the Seawolves.

Lolland matched Eichenour with a team-high nine kills. HSU compiled a .163 hitting percentage in the loss and recorded 10 total blocks, Janelle Ayala led the way with five block assists and two solo.

HSU hosts Cal State San Bernardino Friday in Lumberjack Arena. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
