ARCATA, Calif. – The Humboldt State volleyball team returns home after back-to-back road trips and will face Sonoma State and San Francisco State this weekend. The Lumberjacks take on the Seawolves Friday at 5 p.m. and the Gators Saturday at 7 p.m.
 
"Everyone is very strong in the CCAA," said Head Coach Kelly Wood. "Sonoma is very solid, and they will be very tough competition on Friday night."
 
Two weeks on the road have not been kind to the Green and Gold who have lost seven straight games. Through eight matches, HSU has compiled a .145 team attack percentage and has seven ball-handling errors.
 
"We've been learning a lot, and the results are a representation of our (team's) building (process)," said senior outside hitter Alex Lolland. "Every game we are taking something and learning."
 
Despite the losing streak, the Jacks put together a strong effort in Saturday's five-set loss to Cal State East Bay. Jessica Lammers had a team-high 21 assists and three Jacks recorded double-digit kills with Lauren Reid and Alex Lolland leading the way with 17 apiece.
 
HSU lost both of last season's meetings with Sonoma State, and the Green and Gold swept San Francisco State in straight sets in two games. The Seawolves are off to an 8-3 start with a pair of conference wins, while the Gators are 4-6 and have lost three straight.
 
"We are really excited (to be back in Lumberjack Arena)," said Lolland. "There is always a really good energy."
